We thought it would be a good idea to provide the document processing service that is embedded in Multieyevision as a separate service. We have called it Indifax. We put out a press release earlier...

Users can now fax / email/ send copies of documents by simply taking their pictures with their mobile phone cameras. We do the document scrubbing on the way so that the pictures look like scan copies of the document to the receiver.

Document scanning with a mobile phone
We have launched a new module within our overall offering for document processing. The need and use case is straight-forward: You have a piece of paper ("document"), and you want to send it to someone far away. Your option today is to find a fax machine, or a scanner+email access.
Thanks to our new module, you can now use your camera phone to do the job. Simply take a picture of the document, send it to your account to create a readable / printable version, and forward it to the intended recipient. In other words, your cell phone now becomes a scanner / fax machine.
The image processing part in all of this is important, since most photographs of documents are not easily readable, and are certainly not printable.
Now you have one more reason to sign up for our service!

Video support
Hi,
The Observer now supports video on high end phone models with fast data connections. Video can now be captured and sent to your account for simultaneous / subsequent viewing. On slower connections, videos will take longer to transmit.
Being able to capture transmit videos opens the Observer for other applications, wherein remote Video streaming may be desired, rather than image streams. However, it does not work on cheaper, low end devices as of now.
Regards,
Anand

SMS Alerts
Multieyevision has introduced an SMS Alert capability on change detection. When motion / change is detected in the captured images, an alert is sent to you over SMS notifying you of this change. You can set the cell number on which you want to receive the SMS via our portal.
Motion detection / change detection is a feature that is available in several high end surveillance cameras, and we thought it was important to provide this feature to our customers as well. You no longer have to continually monitor the data over the internet, but you can simply choose to visit the portal when you receive an SMS.
The SMS Alert service is presently in Beta, and is available to all paid users.
Thanks,
Anand

The "free, downloadable" Observer version
Hi,
We have put out a downloadable free version of the Observer, that you can download and install on your phone. Some of you have written to us that this free version hardly has any of the features of the regular Observer. I thought it would make sense to write about our intention of putting out this free version.
The downloadable free version has neither been tested on all phone models, nor is it guaranteed to work on all of them. The purpose of the downloadable version is simply for you to check out if the full-blown Observer will work on the phone you have. If the free version does not work, the full-blown version will not work either.
The purpose of the free version is to simply ensure that you dont have to pay us before you are absolutely sure that the actual Observer will work on your phone (and that you can do the installation yourself). We dont want to collect your money and then have you discover issues. on your phone model.
Our preference continues to be to ship the pre-installed, pre-configured phones of specific models rather than make this a "downloadable" product. The specific models (Nokia 3500 Classic, Nokia 6300, Sony Ericsson W810i) have been chosen based on the best "performance-to-price" ratio of various phone models we evaluated. Remember, the Observer does not run on the phone that you carry with you all the time. It needs to be at the remote location. Therefore, getting the "Observer" to run on the phone that you carry with you is not as important as providing you a stable product that works.
Nevertheless, we do get a large number of queries asking us whether Observer would run on such and such models. (Around 15 Million phones are discarded every month as people upgrade. Many of these old phones are just lying around with people, and the Observer seems like a good product to install on these phones). So it looks like a "downloadable" / "do-it-yourself" type of an Observer offering will probably be necessary.
So, to summarize, if you have a phone lying around, download and try out the free version on it. If it works, write to us for the paid-download link.
Thanks,
Anand
